RE: LED Lights

I just received 3 of the 1156-PCB-WHP9 White LED Lamps in 3100k from Super Bright Legs and they are very impressive and they do not have that blue tint. I am very happy with them.
They are expensive but they only use 190ma and they have a very wide voltage tolerance 8 - 30vdc

RE: Rubber roofs, Why?

There are some interesting comments made about rubber Roofing...
"Oh, I wouldn't not buy if the roof was rubber"
"I would never buy another RV with a rubber roof"
"I wouldn't take a true rubber roof as a gift."
I am not sure I would go to this extreme because of one option on an RV or another. Some would say the same things about Gassers vs Diesels Or pushers vs pullers Or 6v vs 12v batteries, Or ....
If you like the coach, you are happy with the layout, you should buy the coach with the understanding of what you are buying.
EPDM may require more maintenance but it does have its advantages. It is quieter in rain, very easy to repair, light weight,...

RE: Battery performance dry camping-what to expect?

We just ran for 3 nights and 4 days + one day for turning the fridge on early. We watched a movie each night on inverter, and ran all appliances as normal (Refridge, water pump, water heater, lights, etc...) We were at 80% plus charge when we started the coach to come home.
We have 4 GC2 batteries. We also have 390watts of solar but were parked in the woods so we got very little solar charging.

RE: My first accident with the RV Updated

UPDATE 06/25
I agree with all the comments, we are very thankful no one was hurt it would have put a real damper on an otherwise great weekend.
She did have insurance so we should be ok there. She was insured by Progressive so I will let you know how it goes.
I got my own quote from the dealer before the insurance adjuster comes out. The damage to the CRV $6800 and probably 3 weeks of loss of the car. and that is before they take it apart. They could find more wrong. So this small bump is up around $8500+

My first accident with the RV Updated

Ok, Well Friday we headed out for a 3 night weekend at Hopeville Pond State Park in CT. (Beautiful park by the way. Highly recommended) We were on Rt 32 in Willimantic CT in stop and go traffic.
We came to a stop with our 2 month old 2008 Honda CRV (only 3500 miles on it) in tow 4 down on the back and we felt a bump. It was such a small bump I said "what was that" DW said "We were just hit" and jumped out of her chair. I jumped up and went out to look and sure enough a 2005 Jeep Wrangler rear-ended the back of the CRV.
Luckily the jeeps bumper went under the CRVs so it doesn't look all that bad but there is a lot of damage underneath.
On the front, the Blue OX base plate bent and crushed the AC condenser coil (I am not sure if there is more damage on the front).
I have had the Blue OX stuff and the RV inspected and I have been told I need a new base plate and tow bar but the receiver on the RV is OK $1500.
I have not gotten an estimate on the CRVs damage yet but I would guess at least $5000 - $7000 (minimum).
Oh well life goes on, we had a great time camping,..

RE: Saving Streets and Trips Options under the Route Tab

You can save it as the default template, The default template is located in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Streets & Trips\Templates\New North American Map.stt
I think on vista it is somewhere under c:\Documents and Settings\
Change all options you want, including where the map starts ( I have it zoomed to my town with my house already the start route) and then save it as the template shown above exit and restart.

RE: norcold refrig stopped cooling on propane

You are sure you propane is working other things,... I always light all four burners on my stove for a minute or two to make sure all the air is purged from the line.
The fridge uses so little propane it would take a long time to bleed off the air. and I think the igniter will only try a few times.

RE: Why Don't You Wave?

I wave at all campers, A's, B's, C's, 5th wheels, TTs, pop ups, etc.. I rarely get a wave back but it is worth it for the few I do.
I don't bother waving if I am on any kind of divided road but any non divided road I wave. Hope to see you wave.

RE: Verizon broadband card antenna?

I have the Wilson amplifier http://www.wpsantennas.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2
and the Wilson Truckers antenna. http://www.wpsantennas.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3.
I am not sure where I bought these this is just where I googled them this time.
I also got a suction cup thing http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=46134 and use it to mount the antenna only when needed.
This setup works Excellent.
I have Full strength every where I have used it. Before I would have only 1 bar in some places.

RE: Locking Gas Caps..Yes or No?

Someone just siphoned the diesel out of my backhoe, I had just filled it so they probably got 17 or 18 gallons. I welded up a nice locking mechanism for it so they wont get any more from my tank.
I agree there is nothing worse the liars or thief's
As for politicians, As far as I am concerned they are both liars and thief's.

RE: Battery disconnect switches

You probably have an intellitec remote disconnect system. The red light only means the coach has 12v (Either supplied by the batteries or by the converter)
You can verify this by unplugging then switch the switch to store. the red light should go off. Switch the switch to Use and light goes on. Switch to store again and plug in and the red light will go on.
Warning with my intellitec disconnect switch if the switch is off (store mode) the batteries are not charging even if the coach is plugged in.
Hope this helps

RE: Wheel bearing question

I have seen two things fail that make it a good idea to check them atleast regularly.
I have seen an inner seal almost completely gone, just the rubber part. Not sure what happened to it. I know the bearing would have been gone very shortly after that.
I was repacking a bearing and noticed the race in the hub was turning while I was wiping it. That would have caused the bearing to fail as well.
Having said that I only check my bearings when I buy something used and then every 3-4 years regardless of miles.
